day 16

interesting day. i guess i already talked a bit about this morning, but whatever. first though, here's week #2's stats that i omitted:

week 2 - total: 509km

well, ok... not a lot of what you'd call stats up there. i should actually try to get the stats for at least one day's ride (like avg km/hr, avg cadence, hra, etc...) maybe tomorrow.

today i was leaving edmundston in search of wherever (ie. some campground between there & riviere du loop) and as soon as i got onto the road, it happened. wind. wind like you wouldn't believe. like as an example, i was heading downhill but still had to be in my easiest gear pushing a gutless 12 or 13 km/hr. sick. i imagine the wind is also only going to get nastier... ew... the prairies scare me already.

shortly after hitting the quebec border i made an amazing discovery. la route verte! what a phenomenal trail - it goes all the way up to riviere du loop (some 160km). it has tons of trees around it to shelter me from the wind... it has picnic tables, outhouses, scenic beaches, waterfalls, and even natural water sources. one of the most amazing things about it though was that the entire trail remains extremely level. yes, this trail was truly a godsend. at some point in the day, i caught a cold... the weather was overcast with a cold wind. i think my legs were also pretty sore for a lot of the ride, but i tell you, you could've seen my smile from miles away.

i never ended up camping at a campground either. i just pulled off to the side of the trail and pitched my tent. wow.
