day 12
brutal. today i cycled a little more than 150km and it was nasty. not once did it flatten out such that i could maintain a constant speed over 20km/hr. yup, and there were also some hills in there that were phenomenally tough. all together, including several rests that were never more than 15 minutes (usually just to pee, eat, & stretch), the trek took 11 and a half hours. ya, today was a pretty epic day.
kinda funny though... after 120km i would have these waking fantasies about how just after this next hill it would slowly descend all the way into the town. once i got there, there were going to be hundreds of people cheering and throwing confetti (as well as food, but in a good way). then a couple of supermodels would approach me and with this great look of concern on their faces would say, "you look exhausted... would you like me to massage your legs?" of course, reality set out to disappoint me completely. what i thought was funny though is that the waitress at the hotel i'm now staying at insisted on massaging my back for a few minutes. woot!
ya, it's a hotel again... no campgrounds to be found in this town... it's pretty small. no idea what i'll do tomorrow.
