day 11

periodically, these journal entries sort of shift purpose for a while. they look more like diary entries or something... or maybe just "spiritual debriefings" of the day's braintracks. i suppose thought that if i or someone else reads this stuff, i imagine i/they'd be more interested in the beautiful randomness rather than the staleness of factual life.

so what the heck was i thinking about today? well the concept of vacations had me thinking that a lot of people have vacations that are much more observable than anything else. i guess that lands me on a pretty high horse already, but hear me out. see, to me, vacations more or less represent what you would do if you were unrestricted (or at least to a certain degree). and so why is it that in this unrestricted state, so many of us would seek to do the same things? like going to that sunny palm beach or disneyland or some mountain for a ski weekend? reminds me of adbuster's criticism, "when was it that we all began to dream the same dream?" ya, i'm pretty sure that mass marketing is central to this issue, but whatever, i'm getting sidetracked. the point that i guess i'm fumbling towards is that if our vacations are in some way stemmed from our dreams, what are our dreams stemmed from?
